YOGA is a philosophy that began in India an estimated 5,000 years ago. The father of classical ashtanga yoga (the eight-limbed path, not to be confused with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois' Ashtanga yoga) is said to be Patanjali, who wrote the Yoga Sutra. These scriptures provide a framework for spiritual growth and mastery over the physical and mental body. Yoga sometimes interweaves other philosophies such as Hinduism or Buddhism, but it is not necessary to study those paths in order to practice or study yoga.

Soul Flame Yoga is a modern-day physical and philosophical practice that ultimately focuses on developing a person’s spiritual wellbeing as much as their physical and mental health and wellbeing. Our aim is to provide a simple, yet holistic practice that allows one to create a greater connection to everyday life.  There seems to be a misconception out there today in the modern world, that we must all be super flexible in order to practice Yogasana (postures).  This concept or belief is quite far from the truth!  We all have uniquely beautiful bodies, where no single person is created the same, therefore the way each posture looks will look very different for every individual.

As practitioners, we focus on evolving our bodies and minds, as well as creating a deeper sense of connection to our spiritual sides. We also develop a personal philosophy that helps us deal with the many ups and downs of everyday life.
